How to plan a surprise scavenger hunt for your lady's birthday.
The hardest part about creating a scavenger hunt birthday is the planning. You have to be fairly detailed and the timing must be correct for the plan to work well. Here's our list of planning tips:
Steps
Round Up Accomplices:
Let all her good friends and family in on your plan and enlist their help. Designate one or two people to meet her at each location on the scavenger hunt who can help her out with the clue and take her to the next location.
Make a List of 8 Great Stops:
Take into consideration what she likes to do and where she likes to go, as well as places the two of you enjoy spending time. Try to keep everything within a short walking or driving distance, and narrow the list down to 6 places that make the most sense logistically for your final location list.
Some places that make great stops include: a spa, a nail salon, a coffee shop, a bakery, a favorite sandwich place and a store in the mall. Be creative, and pick places that are meaningful to the both of you!
Write Clues for each Location:
Pen clever clues she will be given by a friend to lead her to the next location. You can make them simple and easy, like "Head to our favorite coffee shop for a cup of joe" or more creative using more tricky clues.
Create an Intensive Schedule:
Map out a complete timeline for her birthday that starts in the morning with breakfast. Either make her breakfast or take her out, and at the end of her meal hand her the first clue.
Create the Clues:
Head to a stationary store and pick up stationary she'd like. Write one clue per card and label each envelope with the location and clue number for easy organization.
Pair Accomplices with their Clues:
For each location, plan to have a friend or family member (or two) meet her to hand her the clue. This person should be free to wait at the location until she arrives, spend time with her at that location doing the activity (coffee, nails, shopping) and have enough time to help her get to the next location with the clue they've handed her.
Meet up with the assigned friends and family ahead of time to give them each their respective clue for the big day.
Plan a Grand Finale:
For the second-to-last location, have a friend bring your girlfriend or wife to meet you at a restaurant for dinner. Of course, she will think this is the last stop. Little will she know that you have a Grand Finale up your sleeve for the final location.
Final Surprise Location:
After dinner, take her to a new spot to get dinner and drinks. Claim you have a reservation so she won't protest and try to go home early. Once you get there, surprise her with a party in her honor that includes all of the friends and family members who helped her with clues throughout the day, as well as her other friends. She will be completely floored with the final surprise.
